Student Corner

Now, more than ever before, it is imperative that students take responsibility for learning. As we move towards more rigorous programs of instruction, it is incumbent upon the student to take control of his/her education and ultimately, his/her destiny.

Students tend to think that they have all the time in the world. In the blink of an eye, however, lives can be changed, based upon decisions made, whether good or bad.

Students should not allow negative behavior (their or anyone else’s) to impact their academic careers. It is important to remain focused no matter what else is occurring

Read every night. Reading is the foundation for other subject areas. Students can improve and increase vocabulary and comprehension while reading. It is perfectly all right to turn off the television or video games so that there will be a quiet place in which to study and absorb information.

Students should challenge themselves. This involves setting goals as well as milestones and then re-evaluating as often as necessary in order to adjust goals when needed.

Students should begin to move toward thinking about what they want to do in life, set goals for themselves and keep sight of those goals in order to maximize their educational experiences toward the actualization of the goal.
